Because Karate Families is a place for kids -- and their parents -- to learn self-defense, respect, patience, persistence and to have fun doing it. This means Sensei Scott Greenwood and his instructors encourage, not just correct, students. Positive reinforcement is at the core of our teaching style. That's why our program is designed with many achievable milestones along the way. They help keep students motivated on the road to their black belts. Learning karate should be fun -- and at Karate Families it is. Sensei Scott makes sure of that. Yet that doesn’t mean skimping on teaching real martial arts skills. So in in addition to our regular classes there’s plenty of voluntary workshops to try out, too. These not only help students round out their core skills, but they teach new and interesting “one-off” skills like tumbling and sparring -- and even how to be a Ninja! Karate Families is all about building self-esteem, which is why classes are kept small and targeted for the student’s age. There's always plenty of compliments and encouragements in class, along with meaningful instruction. And that’s also why no student tests for their next belt until the instructors are certain they’re ready. Karate Families is dedicated to the best possible experience for all our students. Take a free lesson today and experience the difference. We're located in Tarzana and look forward to seeing you here soon. ShotokanShotokan Karate is traditional karate. Founded by Master Gichin Funakoshi, the Shotokan tradition emphasizes a balanced approach to the martial arts. Children often find it easier to learn Shotokan Karate than other forms. While mastering Shotokan takes dedication, it's moves are simple and direct, making them easier for youngsters to master quickly. That's good news for adult students, too. |
